Many of us use online chat in some form or another. Personally, I have accounts for GoogleTalk (GMail Chat), MSN Messenger (or whatever “live” thing it’s called these days) and Skype.

I use GoogleTalk quite a bit (text chat only, it seems hardly anyone has the client software installed to do voice). My MSN account sits there, often logged on, but seldom used. Should I get rid of it? I personally prefer GoogleTalk, and it (usually, but not lately, possibly due to a problem with my Internet connection) seems more reliable.

If I get rid of my MSN account, do I tell people on that list that “if you want to talk to me, get a GoogleTalk account”? (GoogleTalk is compatible with the Jabber network, so I can still talk to anyone with a Jabber account). It seems a little unfair to them (although as I mentioned before, I hardly talk to anyone on that account).

Yes, I do have a program that lets me log into both networks at once (and I use that feature). But I’m also one of those people that if I can’t see the use for something, then why not get rid of that thing? Still, some people on my list only have MSN…
