Online Support Presentations

This post is part of a series called "Online Support Presentations". Posts in this series include:

  1. Online Support Presentations
  2. Goals of an Online Support Presentation
  3. Making Donations Easier
  4. Follow Up: Goals of an Online Support Presentation

Part of working for CCC involves having a support presentation (more formally “MPD“). As I’ve been contacting people who live a fair way away from me, I also have an online version of this presentation. It’s not perfect, but I think it’s a useful thing to have.

Over the next little while, I’d like to take a look at how I’ve built my online presentation — the reasons I’ve built it like it is — but also other ways of doing things (and in doing so I might modify mine somewhat). The reason for this is that I think this is a tool that other CCC staff members could use for their own MPD. With this in mind, you can expect a series (I don’t know how many) of posts about this in the not-too-distant future. I’d also like to take a look at some point at other online methods for MPD.

I like the idea of a presentation like this. I’ve been thinking about something more structured like that. We’ve tried different things online and right now are using pages of a blog to spell it all out, but no real direction for them. That’s my next orangejack.com project! Keep me posted on what you discover.

BTW, are you in the eMinistry community in GCX? You should share this and generate discussion!

On the last page when you talk about financial support, what if you link to http://give.ccci.org and people can make a contribution right there. Makes it even easier to support you!

Karin, I’d love to have a link to something like the online giving system you mentioned. The problem is, a US staff account is needed for this to work, which I don’t have.

Some sort of online giving system has been brought up as an idea for the ministry here in NZ, but we currently don’t have anything. On the positive side, it’s very easy for people here to do a bank transfer from their own account to the CCC account (it doesn’t matter what bank they’re with, people can make a payment to any NZ bank account from their own).

Rob, I’ll certainly mention this in the eMinistry community.

I believe it is possible for non-US staff to obtain a US staff account for the purpose of receiving US donations if that interests you. Contact: Staff [dot] Services [at] ccci [dot] org. The downside is the transfer process is VERY slow (at least the last time I checked}.

Joe, this is a very good idea. I’ve experimented with an online presentation also as part of my website. The presentation is at http://www.seabourn.org/about-ministry/. It follows a printed brochure we’ve also developed based on suggestions from someone (but I don’t remember who and cannot find it on our U.S. MPD site).

This is a great idea Joe! My husband is actually the MPD Coordinator for all of the Canadian Staff so I am going to show him this as well!!

Jerry, you are right! Non-US staff can have a US Staff Account(we do!) but yes, transfers take a very long time to come thru!! Ah well, at least they do come thru! Praise the Lord for that!

Thanks for your comments guys! I’ve inquired about getting a US staff account, I’ll let you know what happens with that.

I’ve posted the second part of this series on my blog now, http://www.digitalfishbowl.net/goals-of-an-online-support-presentation/ and plan a third part in the near future.
