Car Update

An update about what’s been happening with car related stuff:

  • Although I didn’t post it on here, I had problems with the insurance company regarding the settlement for my car. I got a call today, and after consideration (read: three weeks of waiting), the good news is that they will pay out the full insured amount for the car!
  • In the mean time, I was given another car (from someone I don’t even know)! A slight downgrade from the ‘96 Rover I had, I’m now driving an ‘88 Toyota Corona.
  • My current line of thinking is that I will not use the insurance money to buy a new car, but stick with the Corona for now. The insurance money will go into my staff ministry account, which I’ll use so that I can be on campus as soon as it starts, giving me some time to raise the monthly financial support that I need. This means I can get a good start to the year.

That’s about it for now.

Yesterday I got called a Woman Driver… by a woman!

The Story: I was pulling out of the driveway so I could back my car in (to hook up a trailer). As I backed out, I checked to make sure nothing was coming either way (we live on a narrow street). After I had pulled out, and was preparing to back in, a lady drove down the road, not bothering to slow down as she approached me. The only reason she didn’t hit me was because I quickly backed into the driveway.

Was she talking to herself?! Perhaps it’s just an Auckland thing?
