Editors Note: This post is meant to be having fun. Take it with a grain of salt, it’s not serious! :P

Why do people place a different value on couples than what they do on singles? As a single yourself, I am ashamed at the seemingly weighted importance you place on linking to those who are married on your blog. To clarify, I am talking about the links contained in the right-hand sidebar on your website. If one wanted to find a link to my website from yours, they would first have to trudge through an extremely long list of links entitled pair, then through the on topic category list, only to find the single list below the archive list!

This is an outrage and I demand an explanation! As if today’s media wasn’t already enough, trying to tell us what is important and how we should live! And now I see you are openly siding with the man on this issue!

I may be the only one to say this but, I wish I got more email! Now, before I go any further, let me clarify. What I mean to say is, “I wish I got more personal email.” I get plenty of bits and pieces for sites I subscribe to, newsletters, etc. And yes, I’d probably need to start sending emails to other people in order for me to get some back. Maybe I’ll start doing that…

The cool thing about personal emails, is that getting one is now pretty much as exciting as receiving a piece of personal snail mail (not a bill or statement). This, I reckon, is because people are using email less and less, due to overcrowded email in-boxes and the proliferation of social networking sites.

And the advantage of email over snail mail? I tend to put pieces of paper down and then loose them :P

Many of us use online chat in some form or another. Personally, I have accounts for GoogleTalk (GMail Chat), MSN Messenger (or whatever “live” thing it’s called these days) and Skype.

I use GoogleTalk quite a bit (text chat only, it seems hardly anyone has the client software installed to do voice). My MSN account sits there, often logged on, but seldom used. Should I get rid of it? I personally prefer GoogleTalk, and it (usually, but not lately, possibly due to a problem with my Internet connection) seems more reliable.

If I get rid of my MSN account, do I tell people on that list that “if you want to talk to me, get a GoogleTalk account”? (GoogleTalk is compatible with the Jabber network, so I can still talk to anyone with a Jabber account). It seems a little unfair to them (although as I mentioned before, I hardly talk to anyone on that account).

Yes, I do have a program that lets me log into both networks at once (and I use that feature). But I’m also one of those people that if I can’t see the use for something, then why not get rid of that thing? Still, some people on my list only have MSN…

I’m In Awe

Lyrics from the song “I’m In Awe” by Receiver:

I’m in awe at the wonder of you
And I’m amazed to have a father like you.

And when I’m caught in the flood
And I am walking through the fire
I get down on my knees and pray
And I remember the promise you made.

You’ll never leave me
You walk beside me
You’re always with me
You’ll never leave me.

Though I may walk a thousand miles
Though I may fall a thousand times
I know you’ll find me where I am
I know you’ll reach me.

I’ve taken the time to modify this site so that posts now include tags. A tag cloud is available in the right-hand column. I may modify things slightly as time goes on, depending on how this ends up working out.

For anyone interested, two pages I found useful for getting this up and running were:

How to add tags to your current theme
Wordpress tag cloud (Wordpress Codex)

Pray for the Future

This week I was presented with a decision to make regarding the future. While I’m not going to say what that was yet, I’d ask that you pray God confirms the decision I have made, and that I’d have peace about it.

I should be able to tell you more about this in shortly over a week. Thanks for your prayers!

Tomorrow we have our Waikato Student Life staff retreat (it goes for three days). While I’m looking forward to having some fun, it’ll also be a time for evaluation of 2007, and planning for 2008. Please pray that it goes well, that we enjoy ourselves and that we don’t come back too tired!

Do You Tag?

For those of you with your own blogs, do you tag? Having recently upgraded to Wordpress 2.3 to power this site, I’m considering enabling tagging (the ability to tag my posts with keywords, and then have a tag cloud or some such to allow searching by tag). But I’m wondering if it’s really worth it? I mean, with a simple site such as this — where a few categories and a search box are provided — is there any need for tags? One advantage I can see for tags is that having a tag cloud can spark the interest of a user, potentially bringing them to read posts that they otherwise wouldn’t have read. What do you think?

Well, an update around here is long overdue, so here it is. Psalm 119:105 says “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Please pray for God’s direction in my life as I seek him for the future. I’d like to stay working with Student Life, but I need to raise a lot of financial support for that. (I know God can provide if he wills). Pray that God will provide, and that this summer will be both a time of refreshment in him, and a deepening of my relationship with him.
